A Personal Licence allows you, and only you, to use this software!
If you purchased a Personal licence, you may install and use the software on as many machines as you require (e.g., office, home, laptop, etc.) provided that only one copy of the program is used at any time, and only by yourself. This licence is non-transferable. You may not distribute copies of the documentation or the program in any form without prior written consent from CrystalMaker Software Limited.
This licence does not permit multiple users - even if they use the same program on the same computer. Such use constitutes licensing infringement, and we reserve the right to immediately terminate your licence.
Registration and Support. We will only provide technical support to a single, named software licence holder. You must register the software in order to qualify for support. Unregistered users requesting support must be prepared to provide proof of purchase, including licence code, full address details and your institutional affiliation.
We define a small group as a contiguous research ensemble, within the same physical location, headed by a named individual (who should be the "end user" specified on your order), and including a maximum of nine assistants (e.g., students, post-docs) who must all be directly-supervised by the licensed end user - assuming one installation per user. The maximum number of installations is 10, meaning that the licensed user limit will be reduced if any user installs the software on multiple machines.
For licensing verification purposes, no more than the 10 installations of any software program are allowed.
When members join the group, they may be entitled to use the software - subject to the maximum user limit.
When members leave the group, they are no longer covered by this licence and must uninstall the software from any of their machines.
This licence cannot be shared amongst individuals in different institutions or locations, even if they are nominally part of the same "group".
Larger research groups may opt for an annual large group or department Site bundle.
Departments wishing to share software between different research groups should opt for a Site Bundle.
This licence is not designed for shared usage in a classroom or teaching lab. If you need your students to have access to the software, you should upgrade to a Department/Site licence.
Registration and Support. For registration purposes, it is requested that one person - the group leader - be designated as the group contact. Thereafter, any member of the group, up to the licensed user limit, is entitled to receive technical support, provided that they clearly identify themselves as members of the group. (Sorry, but given the high incidence of software piracy, we cannot respond to anonymous requests, sent via non-specific "gmail", "yahoo", etc. e-mail addresses.)
The large group has the same conditions as the small group, but the maximum number of installations is now 20. As well as the larger number of installations/users you will benefit from the greater flexibility: lower up-front licensing cost (annual rather than permanent) and bundled software.

Software Bundle. This licence includes all our software (CrystalMaker + CrystalDiffract + SingleCrystal + CrystalViewer) for all platforms (i.e., Mac and Windows).
Site licensing provides unlimited usage of the software at the licensed site which could be:
A single university campus (e.g., "University of California at Berkeley", but not the entire University of California system).
An entire government laboratory site (e.g., Los Alamos National Laboratory), or company facility located on one site (e.g., an Exxon research facility, but not all of Exxon corporation worldwide).
If you purchased a site licence, you may install and use the software on any official machines at the licensed site, for the exclusive use of full-time bona fide members of the site based exclusively at that location ("licensed users"). This software must not be distributed to visitors or affiliates who are permanent employees elsewhere. You may install the software on personal machines (e.g., laptops) belonging to licensed users, provided that only they have access to the software, and the software is only used for official business associated with the licensed site (see separate note about "Education Use").

We offer flexible licensing for our CrystalViewer software, so that this can be used in classroom teaching, e.g., as part of a lecture course. The software is licensed to this effect on an annual basis, and can be installed on lab machines as well as student laptops.

Licence vs License. Some of our North American friends worry that our spelling isn't very consistent. We blame Noah Webster for dumbing down the nuances in our language (whilst introducing anachronisms of his own). So let us explain. "Licence" is a noun, whereas "license" is a verb. Thus you may purchase a software licence, as long as you agree to the terms of our software licensing agreement. Makes perfect sense doesn't it?!
