CrystalDiffract can load observed diffraction patterns from a plain-text (ASCII) data file. The following formats are supported:
XY data file (each line has a pair of values, representing one data point)
Rigaku ASC diffractometer file
Bruker uses several different proprietary binary formats for their diffractometers. A number of users have asked about direct support, and we have raised this possibility with Bruker. Unfortunately they have declined to divulge their file format, so it is not currently possible to provide direct import for these files.
We recommend that Bruker users take steps to liberate their data, so they are not left in the situation where they are totally-reliant on Bruker for access to their own experimental data. Use the diffractometer software to export your diffraction profiles as plain-text, ASCII files. That way you can retain "ownership" of your data, and work with them in more user-friendly environments - such as CrystalDiffract.
