When using a licensed copy of CrystalViewer, you have the option of opening a file in CrystalMaker. This should work seamlessly, but depending on how you installed the software, you might get an error message along the lines of:-
Cannot open file with CrystalMaker!
If you have just downloaded "CrystalMaker", try moving it to your Applications folder, then try again.
Do what the program suggests:-
Drag both CrystalMaker and CrystalViewer out of /Applications, then back in again.
Depending on your operating system, you'll probably need to hold down the command key as you drag, otherwise the system will merely create an alias instead of actually moving the software.
This is an Apple issue, related to their rather clumsy “Gatekeeper” security software. Did you accidentally launch one or either of the programs before copying them to /Applications?
Your apps were likely blacklisted by “Gatekeeper” because you downloaded them from outside Apple’s proprietary App store and then tried to open one app from the other. Because neither app has been “trusted” by the security software, this is interpreted as a potential threat, and the system then blocks the action.
By physically moving the apps you’re telling the system that you’re the boss: that you really meant to do this.
To avoid this problem in future, always move any downloaded applications directly into your Applications folder before you try launching them, or trying to run one application from another.
