Problems Running the Windows Installer?

  1. Do you have administrator privileges?

The installer needs to write files to the system area and hence requires administrator privileges.

  2. Turn off any third-party security or anti-virus software

Some third-party anti-virus programs could interfere with the installation process by preventing the installer from correctly accessing the system area. If you do encounter programs, try restarting your system with any third-party virus/security programs disabled.

  3. Keep it Simple!

We design our software to be used by real people: researchers, teachers and students - on their own machines. We do not recommend complex IT installations such as "Windows Roaming Profiles". In our experience, these cause unnecessary complexity and seem incongruous in the modern "laptop age". IT personnel wishing to persist with roaming profiles should do so at their own risk; we provide some advice on the use of roaming profiles.

  4. Don't Suffer in Silence!

If you are a licensed user of the current software version and you are experiencing problems, please contact us! (Please note that technical support is not available for unregistered users, or users with legacy software products.)

Remember to include your licensing details (serial number and/or licence code) and screen shots of any related alert dialogs so we can investigate in more detail. The best way to send this information is via e-mail.
